The significant Kidney Function Tests
BUN and Serum Creatinine: The two are the most common tests for kidney function. The normal range of serum creatinine is about 0.7-1.2 mg/dL; 62-106 mM/L.
Creatinine clearance- This test requires 24-hour urine collection. A blood sample is drawn at some point during the 24-hour period. In addition, a formula which involves patient's age, gender, weight and serum creatinine levels also can figure out creatinine clearance without 24-hour urine collection.
GFR measure how well the kidneys' glomeruli works. Normally, kidney filters serve to filter blood and remove the waste products from it. The amount of remaining kidney function can be estimated by measuring or calculating the GFR. The normal GFR range is 100~150ml/min.
